USE INTELLIGENCE RESPONSIBLY
AI, Grading & Market Disclosures
What Card Meridian’s automated results mean—and what they do not mean.Effective and last updated: September 3, 2026These policies explain how Card Meridian works and the responsibilities that come with using it. Questions may be sent to support@cardmeridian.com.
Inspect the physical card and verify important evidence before buying, selling, insuring, or submitting a card for grading.
Card identification
Identification combines submitted images and details such as player or character, year, manufacturer, set, card number, parallel, autograph status, and catalog or marketplace evidence. Similar designs, unlisted variations, image glare, printing differences, inaccurate listings, and incomplete checklists can produce a wrong match.
A confidence score describes the system’s relative confidence, not the statistical probability that a match is correct. “Top match” means the highest-ranked available candidate, not guaranteed identification. Confirm the exact set, card number, parallel, serial numbering, autograph, and rookie designation before relying on a result.
Meridian Grade
Meridian Grade is an AI-assisted photographic condition pre-screen. It can evaluate only characteristics visible in the supplied images, such as apparent centering, corners, edges, and some surface issues. Sleeves, top loaders, glare, focus, cropping, shadows, resolution, camera angle, scanner artifacts, card design, and concealed defects can materially affect results.
Projected grades and grader-specific ranges are informational estimates. They are not issued or endorsed by PSA, SGC, BGS/Beckett, CGC, TAG, or another grading company. Professional graders may apply different standards, weighting, tolerances, authentication findings, altered-card determinations, and population considerations. A photo pre-screen cannot detect every crease, dent, indentation, print line, surface scratch, stain, alteration, restoration, trimming, counterfeit feature, or autograph issue.
“Grade,” “Do not grade,” “Inspect manually,” and “Retake photos” are decision-support labels. They do not promise acceptance or a specific grade. Card Meridian does not authenticate cards or autographs.
Market values and comparable sales
Values may combine completed-sale records, active asking prices, user-entered data, modeled estimates, and calculations. Completed sales may be delayed, incomplete, incorrectly categorized, canceled, unpaid, bundled, altered by shipping or taxes, or mismatched to a parallel, grade, autograph, condition, or card number. Active listings are asking prices, not proof of market value.
“Real sold” indicates that Card Meridian received evidence identified as a completed sale and matched it to the card; it does not guarantee the transaction was paid, delivered, arm’s length, or correctly described. “Estimated” means no sufficiently matched sold evidence was used for that displayed tier and the amount was modeled from available benchmarks. Estimates must remain visibly distinguished from sold evidence.
Trends and recommendations
Buy, sell, hold, and grade recommendations depend on available evidence and assumptions about condition, fees, shipping, insurance, grading cost, selling time, liquidity, and expected price. Markets can change immediately. Historical performance and recent momentum do not predict future results.
Card Meridian does not provide investment, tax, legal, insurance, or financial advice and does not act as your fiduciary. Collectibles can be illiquid and speculative. Make decisions based on your circumstances and seek a qualified professional where appropriate.
Grading economics
Projected graded value, expected net lift, and break-even grade are estimates. Actual outcomes depend on the grade received, grader and service level, membership fees, shipping, insurance, turnaround time, marketplace fees, taxes, buyer behavior, and market movement while the card is away. A projected upside may disappear or become a loss.
Third-party names and availability
Third-party grader, marketplace, catalog, and data-provider names identify sources or comparison categories only. Unless expressly stated, Card Meridian is independent and is not sponsored, endorsed, certified, or affiliated with those parties. APIs, licensed feeds, and public information can change or become unavailable, and cached evidence may be shown during an outage.
Your verification checklist
- Confirm the exact card identity, number, set, parallel, serial numbering, autograph, and rookie status.
- Inspect the physical card outside a sleeve under multiple lighting angles.
- Review individual sold records and exclude mismatches, lots, outliers, and questionable transactions.
- Distinguish sold prices from active asking prices and modeled estimates.
- Include grading, shipping, insurance, marketplace, payment, and tax costs.
- Check current grader rules, fees, service levels, and turnaround times directly with the grader.
Report a problem
If a result appears incorrect, use the match-review and evidence controls where available or email support@cardmeridian.com. Include the card details and explain the suspected mismatch, but do not send passwords or payment information.
